Any good book on AI?
I''m about halfway through AI Game Development, and I''m loving it. You did an awesome job Alex.

I noticed that someone on Amazon was not quite as impressed as I was. We need more reviews on there to offset his crappy one.

heh, that''s not a review, it''s libel! It''s obvious he clearly has not read it, as the practical nature and C++ code is the backbone of the book.
I guess he just flicked through it online, and didn''t see any code pasted... the code is available online; I decided not to print the code in the book, so you get 768 pages of text and figures with some pseudo-code and equations .
Anyway, I don''t know what he has against me personally, but I''m pretty sure it''s against Amazon.com''s policy. How do you say "law suit" in Italian? Maybe I should send him a copy of the book instead!
(btw, I''m not saying this because it''s a bad review, it''s a bad review for the wrong reasons! There are other issues he could have picked on that I would have been more than happy to acknowledge...)

Yes, I agree - the italian dude reviewing your book on Amazon havent read any of it (just flipped trough it).
Personally I like the fact that you use pseudocode inside the book (the actual code is ofcourse in C++ to download) - makes you focus much more on the actual algorithm than the intricacies of the language in question (I mean, use a pointer in a code-example in a book, and half of the crowd reading it will go blank and loose focus - including me ).
Since Ive only read a fifth of the book so far, I can only vouch for the little details (although the content is so-far great). Just a little thing like having small chapters (10 pages) makes a great difference when reading and absorbing this stuff. It seems youve put a lot of thought into how to structure the book - which is something that often forgotten, Ive noticed.
I just have to get some more time on my hands to finish it up (damn uni ).

Why of course the people don’t want war. ... That is understood. But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship ...Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.
