Did the teacher specifically pick that topic out for you? And is it really an exam or is it an essay? Did you just say i want to write something about video games and is this what your teacher suggested to you? It seems to me like its an open topic essay cause i doubt a school would assign an essay, or even most definatly an exam, on what the evolution of videogames are. If you don''t know to much about the topic then you need to find something you can draw off of personal experience from. When you know what you''re talking about you can focus more on the writing style which is what is graded anyways. You''ll get more marks if you write about something that may not be as cool as video games, but you know enough about to form 4 or 5 paragraphs together about it.

Agreed. If you can choose a narrower or more familiar topic, do so.

If you were assigned this topic, then no doubt the class or teacher you are writing it for has a fairly narrow concept in mind, and a bunch of broader suggestions from the posters on this board will do more harm than good.

You should have a number of sources readily available to you, either class readings or texts or even your professor, that can give you a better start than we can.

Besides, if we''re too enthusiastic, we might give you unethically explicit information, which would benefit nobody.
