Getting BPP from current Window?
How can I get the Bit depth from the current window. I''d like to SetDisplayMode() in DX7 to match, thus allowing the user to configure the game externally via Windows. I can''t seem to find a usable "GetBPP" function in the Win32 API...

Well, one way to do it would be to use directx for the external window. Set the cooperative level with DDSCL_NORMAL. Then you can get the pixel format of the external window''s primary surface and save that to use for the main program. I''ve looked for a GetBPP() sort of function before but could never find one.
