The inexpensive route...

I''m right smack dab in the middle of the design phase of a game, and beginning to look into how I''m actually going to make it real. I need something to run it on, but for various reasons I''m not looking forward to building an engine from scratch. (Like that fact that I''m working alone on this. ::shudder: I''ve looked a bit into Genesis/Jet3D, and the Nebula device, and while they''re good places to start, the documentation on them is a bit lacking. So I was wondering if anyone could point me to a good place to learn about what these engines are capable of, and how to use them. And if you''ve got any suggestions on another decent(and free, please ) engine, feel free to post them. Just to give an idea of what I''m looking for, the game calls for relatively large open spaces, terrain and the like, mostly viewed from the 3rd person. Stuff like skeletal animation isn''t really necessary. What I really want is just a good base to start from, that I can add necessary components to. Thanks a bunch, Jonathan

For Genesis3D, a very good reference is the World of Genesis site at:

Good stuff, and updated on a relatively regular basis.

Luck!

Wow. I posted this nearly a year ago, and I''m just now getting responses. Weird.

Thanks for the input guys.
