currently i got a particle systems that being drawn as lines with device->DrawPrimitive(D3DPT_LINESTRIP ,0,1); I was wondering if there was a way I could change there size in width so they are not so small and thin?.

Use quads instead. On some graphics cards, lines are converted to quads anyway. They usually end up being much slower.
