I''m almost ready to make my first game and I want to make my own graphics. Does anyone know what a good software is for creating graphics for games? Is Gimp a good software for graphics?

Gimp is about the best you''ll find for free, other than that the two major apps are Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro. Paint Shop Pro is really good and the cheaper of the two, but it depends what you need.
OK. I will stick with GIMP for now and buy Paint Shop Pro or possibly Photoshop later.

While I was looking for some sprite software, I came across some things that said you could also model your sprites and take a still shot of it and the animation would be a lot easier. Is it recommended to do that?
