Dot3 same as Normalmapping?

Not really. Dot3 is be used in "normalmapping", but it can be used in other areas to.

You should never let your fears become the boundaries of your dreams.

normal mapping is a technique.
the dot product, or DOT3 for a 3component vector is a defined mathematical operation.
