cPanel offers a lightweight File Manager with a GUI which is simple-to-learn, yet retaining a fair amount of functionality.

We also support direct FTP uploading to your site as well.

I''m about to sign up for the starter plan. I want to make a subdomain (for the time being) but I don''t see any options for that. Also, once I do get a real domain, will I be able to transfer onto that domain easily?

Yes, we do support subdomain naming, when the order asks you for your domain name, simply put [yourdomain].genericwebhost.com.

We can also easily upgrade to a standard domain when you purchase one.
