Hi, I''d like to buy a new ATI Radeon 9600 graphics accelerator (with RV350 chipset). But first I must know if it supports float textures under DirectX 9.0 API. Could someone with such a card kindly have a look in the CapsViewer if it supports the texture formats D3DFMT_A16B16G16R16F and D3DFMT_A32B32G32R32F. And furthermore I''d like to know if they are supported as render target. I mean the usage D3DUSAGE_RENDERTARGET. That''s really important since I''m working on a project with float textures as render target. The path in the CapsViewer is (approx.) 9600->HAL->AdapterFormats->RenderTarget or so. Thank you very very much.....

It most certainly does.

I switched over to the Radeon 9600 PRO for the same reason as well. Though you may not get 1024 pixel shader instruction slots, support for fp render targets is cooler and far more essential right now!
