can anyone please tell me where can I find tutorials for animating and loading character meshes created with 3DSMAX or other 3D designing program, or is there a book for me that starts from the basic of Direct3D animation...
plus does anyone know where can I find free character meshes in the internet so I can train with them?

should be fine, although the second uses opengl it will help you make file loaders for models, though the first book is fine if you just want x files.

There is a reason why the skinned animation tutorial in the SDK is rated as "Advanced"! It is a difficult topic to understand. You can''t go wrong with Jims book "Advanced Animation With DirectX" though. I''m working through bits of it now. At the very least I anticipate being able to to skinned animation and animation blending from using this book.
