Does anyone know of a speech generating engine or some sort of code or app that will integrate into a game? In other words, do you know of some source code or app that will read and say characters names or what ever the user types in? Sorta like Bonzi Buddy or Microsoft Narrator. "Do not flame people you don''t know in a public forum. Only amateurs do that. Professionals in the industry know they will run into each other over and over. The person you flame this year may the person you want to do business with next year. Don''t burn your bridges," (Diana Gruber, http://www.makegames.com/chapt6.html).

Thanks, but it only looks like it can be used in VB/ActiveX and not C/C++...darn.

You can still use the Microsoft Speech API, that article just demonstrates one way to use it in VB. Go here:
http://research.microsoft.com/research/downloads/

Download the speech API, and check out the samples and documentation. It comes with a bunch of samples on how to use it in C/C++, even one on how to add text-to-speech in Age of Empires 2

Peace
