multiple problems with multiple textures

I''m writing a video poker game and whenever I load more than 5 textures (card faces) no text gets written to the screen. I''m using the texture loader and glPrint utilities from nehe''s site. Also, after I hard-coded the coordinates of the cards, the textures refuse to appear. Any ideas on a remedy? thanks

-everytime you want to bind a texture object, check whether it''s still in the server memory or it''s been deleted ( with glTexParameteriv having GL_TEXTURE_RESIDENT as pname )

-probably you''ve got some memory problems
