In C++, can a class access private variables of another instance of the same class? For instance, I am writing a RPGchar class and I want the attack() function to take a pointer to another RPGchar and modify it''s current health (ch) variable, which is private. Can I do this directly, or do I have to use and write an accessor function?

Make a public accessor to the variable like

void vSetHealth(int health);

and one to get it.

int iGetHealth(void);

Then use that for your attack function.

Or you can use the friend keyword.
