Hi, here''s what I have been doing right now - i load 3ds files into ms3d, save them as ms3d, then load them in my engine with the Y and Z axis flipped. thing is, there isn''t textures or materials - just grey models. so i was wondering, can openGL load 3ds files with fully embeded textures? or please anybody tell me of a easier way of loading skinned meshes of 3ds format? Thanks in advanced.

fully embeded?
I assume that means they are in the ms3d file?
If so then yes, bu there is no automagic way of doing it however, you''ll have to load the data yourself and, if needs be, decode it into a format OpenGL can make a texture out of and make a texture out of that data saving the ID, then work out how to map the correct texture id to the correct face with the correct U,V coordinates (which will also be in the ms3d file)
Sounds to me that you are only extract the vertex data and feeding that to opengl, for anything else you''ll have to extract it and pass it to OGL as well

ic. so there is confirmed no way to do all the textures in 3d studio max, export the file as .3ds, and load it in ms3d with all the textures intact?

can anybody give an alternative?
