How to write a DLL?

I know DLLs have been around for a long time. But they''re still a mystery to me.
I''d like to learn to write them, and I''ve tried doing searches here on GameDev and on the internet about how to write one but can''t seem to find a tutorial.
Can anyone walk me through it or point me to a website or article that I can learn from?
I''m using Visual Studio .Net.
Any help appreciated.
