Sorry this isn''t really programming but in the absence of a web-forum ... I''ve been set a project designing a website around some data and a colour scheme as the final stag in a job application for a web development position. Though I''ll be focusing on the development side (PHP, javascript etc) it''s obviously good to have it looking good too & one of the things mentioned is following standards for layout, usability etc for web pages. I tried to search but just get things like HTML standards, or the standards used by some university project. Where can I find standards for how to organise layout and operation of a web page please?

well, i think your question dances on the edge of "style" in which case webpagesthatsuck.com (mentioned above) is very good.

Other than that, i would suggest you download and start using Mozilla (http://www.mozilla.org/) if you are not already. It''s a web developers best friend and is very standards complient. Nothing bugs me more than microsoft-only webpages.

Yes it''s style-more about how to get web pages similar in usage so as not to onfuse users etc. Not browser dependence stuff AFAIK
