[java] newbie question about tile base game

i am making a simple aeroplane game , but for it i want to put some tiles. i know that for it i have to create toooo much big array and then display it on the screen one by one ... question is should i hardcode it inside array or should i take it out from any file? if from file then which kind of file should i use i am really confuse on it... thanks in advance

I''d suggest creating a decent tile editor first instead of just hardcoding an array of tiles in the game. It''s quite a bit more complicated at first but it should save you lots of time and hassle later on. The file format is totally up to you. Probably easiest just to use a binary file and store each tile as one or two bytes.
