Lighting bug

Hi, I''ve got a problem with illumination in opengl. I started out with creating a terrain using GL_TRIANGLES and created the vertex normals, and positioned a single light above the terrain. That worked great. Then I created a stupid cube robot, made of glut cubes. Problem is, that once I put the robot in the scene, the lighting on the terrain suddenly shows only on half of the terrain. This happens when I move the camera with the mouse (implemented mouse movement function). any ideas?
