What is more, this Zelda game will be a massivly multiplayer online game. (...droool)

Well I can definitly say I love Zelda series, but thats kinda weird.... heh I would run to the store and grab any super realistic zelda game normally but how in the world can zelda be massivly multiplyer!!? *Imagines 1000 links running around throwing bombs and swining swords* heh creepy image.

I also say, zelda is far from dead, I personally loved wind waker, when I first saw the screen shots I was a bit scared, but when I sat down and played it I found the game better then most other games I have played as of late!

maybe for you 5 year olds it rocks
but hy get real, and Iron Chef Carnage there is no zelda as 64 was the last 1 to use here in a game the rest just fart out here name but have nothing to do with her or hyrule
even though same basic theme is regurgitated over and over in different ways
Its called link and just shot of him been a cross dresser with fiery mask on what else are they trying to promote ..schizophrenia as its better to have many faces as it gets you feather than been your self ,dipped in hate and racism and face it wind walker has many freaks on balloons tell me its cool please……that balloon freak needs to be locked up not be in another Zelda game …

*sigh*
u-diy,
Before you call anyone a 5 year old( implying we are all imature ) perhaps you should look at the way you yourself are responding to our constructive critisizim. Certainly not what I would call mature. Also as to your point of Zelda not being in the games anymore perhaps you should look at the whole series and notice the pattern.

The Legend of Zelda - Nes
Contained Zelda & Gannon directly

Zelda 2 The Adventure of Link - Nes
Contained Zelda indirectly sleeping(?) no Gannon

Zelda 3 A Link to the Past - SNES
Contined Zelda & Ganon Directly

Zelda 4 Links Awakening - GB
No Zelda No Ganon

Zelda Ocarina of Time - N64
Contained Zelda & Gannon Directly

Zelda Majoras Mask - N64
No Zelda No Ganon

Zelda - Oracles Paired games - GB
?? Not sure here

Zelda Wind Waker
Has Zelda (Sort of) and Ganon

As you can see Zelda does not appear directly in every second Zelda game. Therefore she should be in the next major Zelda game.
( does that make sense everyone? )

Also, just because the series is titled "The Legend Of Zelda", doesn''t necessarily mean it has to have anything to do with Zelda. Look at this way, Zelda may be the ''narrator'' in a way. In this regard it is "The Legend of Zelda" because it is her story.(ie she is telling it, Just Like the Book of Daniel. Daniel wrote the book but he is not necessarily in it. )

Bla bla etc etc. Gee I went on didn''t I. Thats enough for now.

On the topic of a MMO Zelda game...

This sort of thing has been done before. There is a game called "Graal" that started initially as a MMO version of "A Link to the Past", and, to me, it was fantastic (until they decided to charge for it and the user base dropped like all hell). I played it all the time. Players were given hundreds of head, sword and shield images, body shapes and colour schemes to choose from, so it wasn''t a world filled with thousands of Link look-a-likes. So, if Nintendo did decide to do something similar, I think it would be excelent.

Alright, there''s MY two cents.

James.
Majora''s Mask saw the return of the Mask Salesman (seeing as how it was his mask that was stolen), the Skull Kid from Hyrule''s Lost Forest, and a cameo by the young Princess Zelda, giving the Ocarina of Time to Link.

The two Oracle games have Ganon raising several kinds of hell, and if according to websites, he and Zelda make an appearence at the very end -- though I haven''t gotten quite so far into the game. The base premise is that you need to save Din and Nayru.

You can find a theory on the timeline at http://www.detstar.com/zeldawindwaker/view.cfm?class=article&ID=19

I''m also with Iron Chef Carnage -- the presentation of your posts greatly influences how likely forum browsers are to read, understand, and respect what you post. u-diy, I''ve read between your posts, and don''t think I''m missing much. The rest of the thread, though it has little to do with game design, is reasonably interesting.

One of the things that I really like about the Zelda series is the skill required with sword timing and bow accuracy. Seeing as how there were a large number of platforms to get up to or down from, the article on difficulty in dexterity-based platformers here on gamedev.net is also somewhat applicable. If you''re good, you can cut down Iron Knuckles with little difficulty and scale the waterfall platforms (Water Temple, _Ocarina of Time_) without missing a stride. Something similar is evoked in Deus Ex, the thrill of knowing that you''ve found a new nook or cranny by skittering across some shaky pipes, the satisfaction of smoothly zapping a MiB, or the pyromanical joy of nuking the entire ''Ton Hotel with 20 TNT crates in the halls and lobby. It''s a mix of good control over your avatar, and overcoming the challenges -- minor or major, either from the actors or the level design. You don''t see this in your turn-based RPG (much less the MMOs that almost everyone on the "Help Wanted" forums [cynical comments removed] dreams of leading a team to build) or your strategy games, and only a little bit of in most of your shooters.

Killing stuff, especially if it''s just a rehash of something you''ve seen before with larger numbers, is only fun for so long if you don''t have something else going on. So how do you challenge players to both succeed at a game and take serious risks at the same time? You''re not gunna get it by going by the numbers, but those numbers are almost tried-and-true (just look at Diablo). What''s that ingredient? (okay, now I''m ranting...)

I think we can stop posting in this thread. Why do we care what some troll, who badmouths a game without even playing it, thinks?

I don''t know about Zelda, but I think it''s time this thread died.
