your game ideas please!!!

I know that underneath you are all creative people with thousands of ideas for cool game features. We have a team of 5 people, and we our writing a (3d) game for our Final Year Industry project for our degree (IT). We have decided to let the gamedev community become involved in the making of the game as we do it step by step! When the project is finished all source will be released to the community and all creation documents. Any contributions will be noted in the final program. We will have a site up shortly! Until then, we are pondering ideas for the game: The client has suggested it be based around a vehicle. LET THE BRAINSTORMING BEGIN!!!

how about a game that the user can create any vechile they want out of parts

they can add guns etc

then they all have a big no holds barred race.

you are a groundhog, one of many amonst your troup/herd/whatever a group of groundhogs is called. the local farmer has started poisoning the rats in his barn. they are fleeing to your burrows for safety. however, as they are rats, they don''t want to share the space, they are KILLING ALL YOUR FRIENDS.

arm yourself with explosive pea pods, carrot spears, onion stink bombs and other farm based weapons. use your groundhog cunning to lure rats to farmer laid poison traps, use your weapons to kill them! go to WAR with the rats!

Actually once I began to develope a game based on hover cars, in a world that was much like Dune. The weren''t really cars, but hover tanks -- sleek looking with like hidden mini missile racks and the whole nine yard.

I envisioned a sort of multiplayer game, but the idea was about these sorts of things:

Modifiable Vehicles (of course, Gran Tourizimo level)

Co-pilots and Packs of sleek hover tanks (football games, and starcraft like strategy.)

Sheilds and gunners something like the Star Wars X-wing squadron game.

Resource management (fuel dependencies, weapons take energy, boosting shield takes energy, special weapons take energy, etc. And of course you can only take so many mini-missiles with you when you go on partrol.)

Fights would center on some time of Ore, or precious commodity, back up (totally avoiding RType like boosts.)

Or they could just be rabits, fighting rabits (Watership Down.)
Or they could be mice fight rats, fighting cats and mice (Secret of Nihm)

I''m working with Muncher on this project, Firstly thanks for the ideas, they are much appreciated.

Our ''client'' is leaning towards a remake of an old game, using a current 3d engine, something like the halflife/quake engine.

One of the aspects of game dev that we are trying to avoid to some degree is the modeling of extremly difficult objects, for example cars that look like real world car models.

lol Palidine, that would be make for a perfect Abes Odessy type game! cool idea! I think a group/herd of groundhogs could be given a name.... a conglomerate. A conglomerate of groundhogs

3d moon patrol. I downloaded the original for the c64, and played it for a while. I think it would have to be a 3rd person view for it to work, multiple weapons. We are leaning for a multiplayer game, personally i would like a team based game. So maybe each team could have a base (on the moon). Each team has to destroy the other teams base etc etc....

i dont know what 3d time pilot is, was that on pc??

I''ve always wanted to see a 3D clone of Warheads. It would take some imagination to get a workable solution. You could maybe have a screen split 4 ways where you can control the guns (the original game had 2 guns, I think, but it might work better with 4 in a 3D version. I dunno).

God knows how you''d implement it in 3d, especially the ''jump'' but that would make a kickass multiplayer game.. I think the actual gameplay might be very difficult to implement.

It would definitely take some imagination and creativity, but I think the results would be very rewarding.

I very seriously doubt that. If that''s what you want to do, then just don''t use the "Warheads" name in the title. A 3D version of Warheads would be in reality very different than the original. No fear of that.

How about a 3d sword-fighting game with emphasis on skill instead of action? Maybe something reminiscent of Samurai Shodown games? (Been playing them alot recently...got an adapter for 4 PS2 controllers on my PC...and it''s ON with bomberman, NBA Jam, SamSho4, and especially 4-player Marvel vs. Capcom)

I think it''s funny that no one even mentioned a fighting game yet...DAMN YOU ALL!! GO OUT AND BUY VIRTUA FIGHTER 4 EVO!!

Ahem...anyway, you could do something different with that, and it wouldn''t take much of an arena except a ring...even though Samurai Shodown didn''t actually HAVE a ring.

Hope you read this =).

BTW, most sword-fight games (besides Bushido Blade) focus on doing damage...even though getting cut with any kind of blade really hurts...maybe an emphasis on parrying and defense (like GOOD SamSho players)?

I liked warheads alot! I think a 3d version would be hard , unless just the players/planets are drawn in 3d but the gameplay stays 2d.

I would like to incorporate a team style play into the game though. I think team multiplayer is great, but not enough games use it....

I just got an applie pie, a large drink, a large fry, a big mac, and a double quarter pounder for free.

anyways.

These are some of my old ideas, you may make fun of them.

A 3d golf game where you killed gophers, you could shoot them or run them over wiht your golf cart that you could add gopher killing devices too (or upgrade ur gun) from working at hte proshop (never thought of wut youd do) or winning golf turnments, or winning golf cart races.

A game like gta 3, but like 5th element.

A 3d game like Hazardball on these boards.

A very gory swords game. Like the new bruce lee i think it is game, but gory. Your sword would cut their limbs off with about the precision of (some shooting game, like 16 hit zones or something, 22 dismemberment zones, i forget). Blood would shoot out, and limbs would twitch. Then i thought about gameplay and i figured it would just be like that one matrix scene in the second one. Just hacking up a bunch of asian people or something.

edit 2: What the hell is Warheads? (sorry that may ahve come off strong) I've googled aroudn for it and only got this screen shot. welp nm i just realized i closed the only screenshot i found, it looked like either a bunch of metaballs, or atomic particles or something. Also looked like it ran on an older windows.

LOL! It''s not my thread, I was just commenting on it. ;-)

I do wish someone would make a really cool swordfighting game. You could have Errol Flynn-style fencing or medievel/LOTR-style slash-''em and hack-''em broadblade sword fights. I''ve long thought about doing something like that myself, but multiplayer over the net would probably be too laggy for such a thing. It would make a cool AI-based game though.
