I have a couple data files for a game that control spawn information of monsters and npcs. I would like to be able to edit the files to be able to add other monsters/npcs. Unfortunately I don''t know anything about how they are stored. Anyone able to tell me the best way to go about ''reverse engineering'' the data file formats? I have the .exe as well, so in the worst case scenario, I assume its possible to monitor it and record how it requests the data. This is probably a little too advanced for me right now, but if this is the only viable option I will have to buckle down and learn how I guess. Anyone have any ideas how I should go about doing this?
