3D Mipmaps

Just started playing with 3d textures. Got everything working using GLee to access GL_TEXTURE_3D and supporting commands, but cannot work out how to obtain gluBuild3DMipmaps. error C3861: ''gluBuild3DMipmaps'': identifier not found, even with argument-dependent lookup How do I gain access the the latest glu functions? Cheers.

You don''t. GLU is a separate library and unfortunately Microsoft doesn''t provide an even remotely up to date version. You *might* be able to use Mesa, I am not sure though. However, if your graphics card supports 3D textures, then it will also surely support the auto mip map generation capabilities of newer versions of opengl.

I believe it is something like:
glTexParameteri(GL_GENERATE_MIPMAP, GL_TRUE);

Call this after you bind the texture object but before you submit the texel data. BTW: I am going from memory, so it might be best to check out the opengl specs. Also, this method is FASTER than gluBuild[x]DMipmaps, and it automatically updates mipmap levels even when you perform a texsubimage
