somebody told me that there are 2d functions in OGL available (like drawing a line, a rectangle or a bitmap). the only one i found was the rectangle function. where are those 2d functions? or is it only a trick 3d?

There is also glOrtho to set the view to a 2D-ish one rather than the typical deep/depth-full view.
