3DS File hierarchy etc

Hi Does anyone know about the format of 3DS files? I''m looking for info on how object groups and hierarchies are stored, as my 3DS loader I am making is limited to loading a single mesh. I''ve downloaded several docs on the format, but all they tell you is the chunk names-not what they actually are. I need to know how exactly multiple objects are stored, and where exactly their hierarchy ID is stored... Thanks alot! :D Dan
