textures and fonts clashing

Hey guys I''ve recentyl being following some of the NeHe production tutorials. In particular the ones on mapping .bmp textures and lesson 43 which implements FreeType fonts. In my program i''ve got a simple rectangle with a snooker table mapped to it. Recently though when I implemented the FreeType fonts and started outputting text to the screen it draws the fonts okay but messes up my table texture. Instead of mapping a snooker table to it i''ve got this huge 0 on it. I don''t really have a clue as to why this is happening so if anyone has any suffestions i''d appreciate them. I''ll try and get some screenshots and bits of code on to show you whats happening but essentially the code i''m using is that from lesson 6(bmp texturing) and 43(Freetype fonts) from NeHe tutorials. I''m coding it in Borland and using GLUT by the way. Cheers
