Real time Text? What do you use?

For displaying text in a game what do you use. Is there any classes for SDL which will display fonts, without using windows slow fonts. aka using blitting of bitmaps. Basicly what is a good way to draw fonts, and are there any current classes, funtions for drawing strings, and varibles to the screen? Nick Müsli Games www.musli.tk

In my current project, speed is not an issue so I am using TTF but I have worked a little with this and it seems ok. There doesn''t seem to be a great variety of fonts available in the correct format but you can always make your own font files.
