ive looked everywhere, but no one really gets down this basic: what is the difference between a programmer, modeller, and artist and what do they do?

In gaming terms, an artist creates 2D artwork (using traditional or computer tools), a modeller creates 3D mathematical representations of the artwork (using a modelling program) and a programmer produces code to place them in the game, move them around and allow the player to interact with them.

Usually, these are separate people.
