Hi i am writing a console C++ program and am prompting the user for their password. Obviously I don''t want to show what they type, so I am using getch to do this. However, is there a way to do this using a C++ method of istream or any other way. Please let me know, thanks. Plus, getch isn''t portable

Are you wanting the password to not be echoed back on the screen like a *nix style login or are you wanting an * echoed for every character they typed?
