need motivation for using 4D

Recommended Posts

Hey. All the 4D examples that I see, including the use of homogonous coords for the perspective divide all use a w value of 1. I''ve not seen any difference. So what is the point of using 4D vectors and matrices? The only reason I can think of is so that a rotation/scale and translation can be incorporated into one matrix and then multiplied by a 4D vector rather than doing it in two stages. As much info as you would like to offer. Thanks.
