purpose of quark??
I'm working on a game. One of the artists is using Blender. Now I have heard a lot about quark, but I still don't fully understand its purpose. Is it different than a modeling package like Blender, or 3DSMax? Or does it serve as a replacement for a modeling package? Are there viable alternatives to Quark (especially open source cross platform ones)?
Thanks,
Andrew

QuArK is short for Quake Army Knife
it is a map-editor for many games and doesnt replace a 3d modeler
Features of QuArK

Thanks for pointing me to that site. Let me rephrase my question: For the purposes of creating levels/maps in games, how do modeling packages and level editors differ? What features are lacking in modeling packages, that level editors have? (Yes I read the Quark feature list but it sounds to me like those are things that can be found in a modeling package)

You can create a level/map in any modeler, but you''ll have to export the data to the appropriate format (which may require some significant processing).
