Bitmap Rendering

so you want to render an image as a background to all the other 3D? you can do that by making a quad that fills the screen and texturing it with the image, then drawing everything else. or, you can use the ID3DXSprite interface to simplify things; just draw a sprite with the image and then draw everything else.

Assuming you don''t want the image to move or anything, just a purely static background, then it''s easy.

Load the image to a surface.
Get the Backbuffer surface.
Use IDirect3DDevice9::UpdateSurface to blit to the backbuffer.
Render your 3D.
Present.

That should be it
