So I have created an indoor area with 3dsmax and I''m using the directx methods to light it. I am currently just using 2 lights for now, one directional light, and one point light in the center of the room. Everything seems to be working fine except that the ceiling panel stays completely bright, while the rest of the panels in the room are working fine. And if i turn off the directional light and just have the point light, then all the panels work fine except the far wall, which will stay completely bright. Could someone please explain whats going on? Also, is there no way to change the level of ambient light put off by a directional light if the direction is (0, 0, 0)? And by the way, that 3dsmax model is a .x file.

Don''t worry I figured it out. Basically I had a directional light setup but not shown, and somehow just having it setup was messing with my wall. Oh, and using

Device->SetRenderState(D3DRS_AMBIENT, 0x88888888 );

is much a much better way of adding ambient light than using a directional light, in case anyone was curious.
