Synchronised beats and screen output

I have seen a number of demos with the beats of songs synchronised to the objects rendered to the screen . How is this is done? Code examples would be great Thanks

(Assuming C/C++....)

1. Grab yourself a copy of fmod sound api at fmod.org.
2. Look up FSOUND_DSP_GetSpectrum() and associated functions.

That''ll give you an idea of what''s involved, and an api to achieve it with.

Plus; You can d/load my simple d3d mod player from here and get some sample mod files from here.

The mod player is a very simple app I knocked up to test out the capabilities and ease of use of fmod, using the direct3d framework and one 3d model. There''s probably just half-a-dozen lines of code to animate the graphic equaliser!
