try http://www.jave.de

its an ASCII art editor written in java with some specials like 3d rendering or text fractals

ha, thanks, but i wasnt looking for a general ascii renderer or something. it was a very specific thing, someone used a dos window (i think) to output a raytraced scene...where every character slot was set to a different color depending on that pixel.

so like a indexed color output, but in the fixed width columns of a command line window...im really having trouble describing this.

ok, you know ollllld school graphics, you could either switch to video mode and play around with the buffer or you could set registers and do interrupts to draw text and background fills to the screen? well someone used that mode for a raytracer, and its really funny and cool. does anyone have a link?
