Hello, I am trying to make a first person shooter demo. The problem is that how I can give the weapon a nice motion effect as the player moves like in Quake or HL? Thanks.

have an increment that goes between 0 and 2PI. Add the sine of this to the camera''s height value.

//for each step
stepInc += .15;
if (stepInc >= TWOPI)
stepInc -= TWOPI;
cameraY += sin(stepInc)*offset;

just remember to reset the cameraY to the normal offset, like the head position.

I think you would just have a few vars to keep track to slighly perturb the animation transformation back and forth.

Well, some people like to have the Idle Animation inside the model file. So, say frames 0 - 20 are for being Idle. This is the way Quake 2 does it. Now just animate the model.
