Hi, i want to implement some simple CG Shaders in ny engine, have a copy of the book "CG Shading Language Guide" and some knowledge about them already. But i´m getting absolutely mad! Nothing about how you setup and activate the shaders from your application, nothing about passing parameters to it, loading the fragment programs, etc. I have searched the entire web for months now... nothing there! In my book there is a cd included with the CG Toolkit, okay, the CG Runtime Lib and the CGGL Runtime lib is well documented... but no examples to those shaders from the book. And the "NVidia Effect Browser" Examples are kinda bad... they use tons of custom glue-code which i cannot figure out... and the examples won´t compile. And the NVidia Website is another example of horrific documentation: No one can tell me that these crappy PowerPoint presentations are useful, the are just confusing!! i would be very happy if someone could give me some links to where i can learn how to implement shader management in my opengl application!! thanks Gammastrahler

download the cg toolkit from nvidia, and half of its documentation (pdf format) deals with specifics in implementing it in OGL or DX

I have the book too and it explains the basics of using it in C++. It''s an appdix IIRC, the same thing mostly is repeated in the doc with the SDK but with a couple more details. Pixel shaders can be tricky to get to work on older cards because you need to enable some special compiler options.

Nehe (nehe.gamedev.net) has a pretty good tutorial on how to setup shaders. A working example and the explanations of your book should get you up and running in no time ^_^.
