I was really tempted to order this book and I was just wondering what you guys think of it... any good? Does it give a good overview of how to make games for a complete beginner? It''s examples are in C++ for unmanaged DirectX right? Also I noticed that next month they should be releasing a 2nd edition, I wonder if I should wait for that version of the book... Anyhow, lemme know what your experiences with this book are if you have some time. Thanks in advance! Cheers, Fishy

I have it, it''s a great little book for getting into game programming. It''s not going to teach you C++ though, it assumes you have some experience in that already. Although it''s geared towards RPGs, most of the concepts and code is applicable to other types of games. Yes, it''s C++ and non-managed DirectX. It uses DirectX 8.1. I wonder if the 2nd edition is just going to clarify some points and fix some errata, or if it''s going to do more (like move to DirectX 9).
