GLUT keyboard limitations?
I was reading an article on GLUT and I was looking for its limitations. I have read that you cant do sound with GLUT and also has some limitations on kyeobrad scan routines.
I have no idea what this means. Can anyone tell me in simple terms what the limitations are that deal with the kn scan routines?
Thanks
You cant do sound with GLUT,
Glut is designed to be a fast and easy way to get a OpenGL window up and running. The keyboard routines has no limitations(Not that i know of)except that is is limited by the speed of WinProc in windows which most of the time is not a problem.
GLUT is also cross-platform so your code will run on MAC/Linux as well.
However, the main gripe in GLUT people have is that there is no cleanUp callback function where you would do cleaning up once the user exits the application.
FreeGLUT addresses this issue and is the unofficial GLUT which is updated and maintained.
I currently use GLFW which is just as easy to use as GLUT but has support for more platforms and many additional features.
