checkboard for raycasting

im working on my DOOM clone at the moment.after i texture the wall of my game.i found that the texture doesnt go very smooth.there is always sort of rendering error that is created when i convert the float to int.one of my friend told me to use 1X1,2X2,or 4X4 checkboard to clean up those error.does anyone know wot a check board is?how can i implement one in my game?thanks in advance.

A checker board is a special texture in black and white colors: it looks like a chess or draughts board.
