Very interesting. But since the ebook is being offered by the publisher than it''s even easier. They''ll have records of the purchase, so all he has to do is send them an email. However if he "found" the ebook, then he''s out of luck.
At any rate, regardless of whether the copy is legal it should be clear that asking for someone to distribute the source is wrong.
