I had an interesting idea for a RTS/Turn Based game. The "world" is populated with various wizards, some light (i.e. good) and some dark (i.e. bad). You begin with a small kingdom, and must annex wizards to grow in power. Here's the catch, you can't just go around annexing wizards, you must choose to either annex light wizards or dark wizards. If you annex light wizards, you are a holy nation (hate evil nations), if you annex dark wizards, you are an evil nation (hate holy nations). If you annex both types of wizards, you are a grey nation - hated by both holy and evil nations. The wizards you annex will provide services such as far-sight or plauge, amoung others. The wizards my also manage to bring powerful magic heros to your kindgom. You could also send troops on quest for magical items to raise your wizard's power. What do you think? What if each kingdom has a fragement of magic. When the world was create two branches where cut from the world tree. Those branches where then given to mankind to guide it. However so great was their power that the humans who claimed the branches saw themselves as gods and so the gods shattered the branches to punish mankind. Those pieces became known as fragments of magic, yhe source of a wizard''s power.

When you defeat a wizard you get their lands and their fragments of magic which grant you new spells to use. In order to increase your power you need to aquire fragments of magic. Each time you get a fragment it fuses with your existing fragments to make a bigger more powerful piece.

I like the magic fragment idea - the overall goal of the game could be to recomine all the pieces (kind of like the Triforce in Zelda).
