Backbuffer in Win32 GDI

Hi, Is there any way of using a backbuffer and copying it directly to screen like in games programming (either Dos or DirectX/OpenGL). I have a program with basic rectangles and other stuff using GDI and when the window is repainted it flashes in a really anoying manner. Thanks Ciaran

Create a buffer the size of the screen and blit to that, then you blit this buffer to the screen when you''ve finished each frame.
