I''m taking my RPG from a 16bit full screen editor to a Windowed program. I''ve got some nice code(alpha-blending, SpritePixel editing, filtering functions) that is coded for on 16 bit. But when I make the DirectDraw surface, but it is a 32bit as surfaces are linked to my screen depth. How can I make a 16 bit surface in DirectDraw or do I have to use CreateDIBSection or something GDI I''d prefer the quick fix of making the surfaces 16bit and doing one 16bitm to 32bit conversion rather than refactoring my 16 bit code. The final game itself is in 16 bit for older slower machines. Thanks.
