Terrain lighting

Hi, I'm creating some terrain with precalculated lighting. As you can see in the image below it's not quite working right and was hoping someone could offer me some insight. The terrain is rendered using triangle strips and to get the normal of a vertex I take the average of the face normals of the 6 triangles (if its not on the edge of the terrain) that share it as a vertex. However it looks as though something is wrong with my method.
