PlaySound function not working....

Recommended Posts

Hey guys im goin through Andre Lamothe''s Windows Game Programing Gurus 2nd edition. Ive wrote a small program that has a menu and you click the menu items to play different sounds....anyways i get this wierd message when linking... demo3_4.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol __imp__PlaySoundA@12 Debug/test.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals Error executing link.exe. I tried the source that came on the cd....gives the same error. Im pretty sure this is a win32 function and not directx...i have the directx sdk installed anyways...if anyone could tell my why I could possibly be getting this error let me know thanks.

yes i have the cure you need...
(I was reading Andre''s first book too.. )

you have to include winmm.lib to your project

Projects->Settings--> Links and there you see the object/library modules
at there write down winmm.lib
and don''t forget to #include >mmsystem.h> to the top of your actual code

the archer who shoots his arrow beyond his target is no more successful than the one who''s arrow didn''t even reach the target.
