ID3DXBaseMesh::LockVertexBuffer(..)
ID3DXBaseMesh::GetNumVertices(..)
ID3DXBaseMesh::GetFVF(..)
ID3DXBaseMesh::GetNumBytesPerVertex(..)

ID3DXMesh inherits from ID3DXBaseMesh.

You can find examples of locking the vertex buffer of a .x mesh in the DirectX SDK samples (try a "find in files" with "LockVertexBuffer").
