Which to use...

I''ve got the book "OpenGL Game Programming" and it gives you a way how to load a .bmp by loading the bmpfileheader etc. It doesn''t use this on NEHE so I was wondering which was the best to use. Also both NEHE and this book use FILE and fread/fwrite etc. Again I wanted to know if this is better than using o/ifstream. Thanks for any help Tera Programmers Resource Central
