polygons vs. tri strips

Hi, Just wondering, is there a way to generate a list of coordinates from a polygon mesh, to draw triangle strips instead of polys? Or some other way to "share" vertices between polys? I know vertex arrays could be used, but I dont think its possible to use seperate normal and texture coords for each poly in this method? thanks!
