I am working on a game demo for job applications and am wondering if I should use an engine or not. My concern is that I am not sure if a potential employer wants to see if I can develop my own engine, or make a game using a previously existing engine. If I should use an engine, any suggestions for an engine? Ogre3d seems to get good praise. I need an engine that is cross platform because I am developing on a Mac but I want it to be portable to Windows. Ogre3d I believe works on a Mac. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Daniel

I would have thought it depends on what job is up for grabs. If its for developing in house game engines then making your own is good. If its an AI programmer then you should use someone elses as long as it shows your AI programming skills. You''ll probably get a better answer in a minute but thats my thoughts.
