Hi, I''m trying to add a avi animation of a logo to the start of my game i made with max. I thought it would be as easy as rendering out an avi using a free codec and distributing the codec with my game. However, the game engine i''m using plays avi files through direct and it doesn''t look as good as it would using a player like windows media player, divx player ect I didn''t even know directx played avi''s The trouble is, directx seems to play the avi at real time and drops some frames to maintain the frame rate. What''s the point of rendering beautiful animations with 10 hour per frame render times if directx doesn''t play it good Is it possible to play avi''s in a game as good as movie players? Or do I have to write a avi player and codec of my own? Stuff that Is there another way, a different format maybe for playing movies? Any info on displaying animations within a game would be great. Thanks heaps
